Ooh lala! It has been a hundred years since Gabrielle Chanel (or Coco Chanel) opened her first boutique in Deauville. In celebration, the house's designer, Karl Lagerfeld creates and directs this black and white short film, "Once Upon A Time..".
The video was unveiled at the recent Chanel Cruise 2013/2014 in Singapore on the 9th of May which only made me wish even more that I was home, just to be closer to all the action. Simultaenously, the short film was aired on its website for its international audience.
The short film was nothing short of elegance and stardom, featuring an array of familiar faces such as Keira Knightley, Saskia de Brauw and Lindsey Wixon to name a few; in Chanel head to toe, of course. I loved how the film gave the audience an idea of how Chanel came to be, the signature tweed and the likes. However, I wish Keira Knightley spoke in French!
Personally, these films aren't just about fashion. You can definitely get a good message out of it, even if it is a commonly known lesson as plain as "how we have to start somewhere in order to achieve something". And it is true, isn't it? Then, you can have your own "once upon a time", brilliantly filmed and all.
